Ok, I have asked the question "How do I fix my pittbulls fearful aggression?"
I have to state to those of you who read my details before I forgot to add that she has NEVER, and I mean never has shown any aggression towards children or other dogs. She only gets strange (cowering and whining) when someone approaches her whom she does not know. If they leave her alone she treats them like family after a few short minutes. I'm wondering, how to fix her introduction behavior.

I have a pittbull (who coincidently is very submissive and timid), I had a Rotty until last friday (RIP River!), and a 130lb Bloodhound. Whenever anybody comes over for the first time I tell them to ignore the dogs, let them come to them. Thats how it should be anytime anyone meets a dog for the first time. You'd think that kind of stuff would be common sense, but I'm amazed at how often people will charge up on a strange dog. If dogs are aloud to "sniff you out" first, they usually let you know pretty quick that it's cool to pet them. This also insures your dog doesn't get the feeling its being "advanced" on.

That's a tough one, being a pittbull, anyone who doesn't know her may be a touch fearful of her at first - it's unfortunate, but common. If your dog detects just a hint of fear off the stranger, it could "feed" the aggression in your dog...a fearful dog will attack in fear that he'll be attacked if he doesn't strike first. Take her to a reputable trainer, one who specializes in "bully breeds", they'll be able to help you curb the aggression.

Dogs that are shy need gradual socialization, and proper, consistent training. Pit bulls are no different than any other breed of dog when it comes to shy behavior. So ignore the people on here who condemn you for having a shy "pit bull". Chances are, if you approached THEIR dog, it'd probably start barking or growling too. I have 4 pits myself, and get dirty looks all the time, even though they're well-behaved and pose NO threat to them or their safety.

Maybe you should not let people approach her.Tell them to ignore her and let her come to them..She obviously does not like it when stranger go near her,. When she is ready she will come to them as she will have learnt that they are not going to hurt her..She should in time come to think that people are there to be a friend not an enemy...Keep showing her loads of love and security she should come around...
