As an American, there are only a few ways to get money into an online poker account now
1 - send them a check
2 - epassport
3 - some debit cards work
4 - some credit cards work
5 - Western Union --- but you need to call the sites to use this method

It all depends on what site you want. Really the only way to now is to find out if your gambling site has e-checks. Credit cards don't work and now Neteller has basically shut down for US users. If you can't find an option then consider another site. I use Pokerstars, and Ultimate bet. They have the e-check option among others.

Epassporte seems like the wave of the future. http://www.ultimatepokerbankroll.com is saying that Cake Poker is now beta testing epassporte deposits, and a lot of other sites are switching over to it too.
