The reason behind this question is that I believe that term"voluptuous" is given to the wrong kind of shape.

That is exactly my point. Why does it have to do with being on the thick side?

It means Shapely... CURVES BABY!!!
And not the 200lb. woman sayin "Im curvy!!" but the 125 lb. woman that's built..hips, thighs, booty, boobs..everything.
In other words..well in my opinion...a BRICK$HITHOUSE!!! And yes, I too feel like it is wrongly used. It is not a code word for fat, or another word for an overweight woman to call her excess, um, "curves". No offense to ne1.
Voluptuous...if there was a picture beside it it would be SExXxiN3SS!!!!!

vo·lup·tu·ous    [vuh-luhp-choo-uhs] Show IPA adjective 1. full of, characterized by, or ministering to indulgence in luxury, pleasure, and sensuous enjoyment: a voluptuous life. 2. derived from gratification of the senses: voluptuous pleasure. 3. directed toward or concerned with sensuous enjoyment or sensual pleasure: voluptuous desires. 4. sensuously pleasing or delightful: voluptuous beauty. I don't think its common vocab per say. But I think he is say he would like a girl who wants to enjoy life and be passionate. That's my best bet.

Voluptuous by Webster's definition means "sensuous or sensual pleasure by fullness and beauty of form-describing the nude body (I looked it up). So, it does describes a full figure, however, one that is "sensual to the senses".
I take it to mean only if it TURNS YOU ON would you describe one as voluptuous.
