The easiet thing to do is to spray your brush with hairspray and then comb it through. The static will be gone with no problem.

Hair Oil (or small amount of olive oil) has worked very well for me:
Advantages:
1. Your hair will be shiny and minimal "static"
2. Smooth feel
3. If the oil smells good, that's always a plus
4. Long lasting
5. And it wont damage your hair at all...
All you do is apply it to the top hairs or if you have REALLY frizzy/staticy hair run it through from the roots to the tip...
But apply only a little...If you apply too much your hair just looks and feels greasy and you don't want that

Part of the reason why this happens is the lack of humidity in the winter air along with potential dryness in your hair. As mentioned, if you spray Static Guard (it should be in the laundry care aisle of the store) on your brush, it should help.
I have the same problem in winter, and other things I use are an extra moisturizing shampoo/conditioner, or a silicone based hair serum. Just a little of the silicone serum (I use Got 2 b's Glossy) tends to help as well.
Use any of these things in combination and it should help.

You could either spray your brush with static guard then brush your hair. Also just rubbing a dryer sheet on your hair will help get rid of static.

I have waist length hair and have a static problem on occasion. Usually it is from blow drying . I will buy a can of Static Guard. Spray it into my brush, brush my hair smooth.

Those are good temporary remedies. You may also want to use a good conditioner and run a vaporizer in your home.
