I've been sober now for over 3 months. I just don't seem to have as much fun when I'm out with friends at the bar, and it's harder for me to approach women. I don't seem to have the courage I did when I was drinking. I've thought about drinking again. Do you have any advice? I was seeing a therapist for two months, but got nothing from him.

Nobody likes a drunk picking up on them. They slobber & can't talk right. They smell bad too. You just be yourself and try to have fun no matter where you are. People always seem to think they need to have that liquid courage, when all they really need to do is relax...watch everyone else look stupid.

For one think, why were you at the BAR? When you are a recovering alcholic, the bar is not where you go! You need to stay away from the friends who drink. That is just Temptation right in front of you. Especially when when you only have 3 mos. of sobriety! Go to AA meetings, get a sponser. at least go to meeting everyday, 7 days a week. When you feel the need to drink or to go out with your friends, Call Your Sponser. You will make good friends at AA. Its a hard row to tow, but if your serious enough about being sober, it will work, and please get a Sponser with a few years of Sobriety. If you can go to 2 meetings a day.

You have to accept that your life style has changed with your new found sobriety. You shouldn't be hanging out with your friends at the bar that just makes you more suseptible. You are just going to have to find a new confidence that the drinking gave you. Please don't start drinking again, then you will have to start all over again. Best of Luck.
