Get a bulb of garlic at the store. It should be dense when you hold it.

Pull one clove out of the bulb. The smaller the clove, the more garlicky it will taste.

To peel the clove you can use your fingernails, give it a whack with the flat of a chefs knife (and peel away the paper with your fingernails), or roll it in a silicone trivet to loosen the paper (and peel it away with your fingers). To get the smell of garlic off your fingers run cold water over them and rub them with some stainless steel (the side of the sink, the back of a spoon, etc) or rub them with a fresh cut lemon.

Then cut up the clove. The smaller the pieces, again, the more garlicky it will taste.

Hope this helps

well there are different ways to prepare this depending on how you want it.

first you always have to peel it completely
then if you want little chunks of the garlic all over the dish, slice it up nice and thin, so that the flavor spreads all over
if you want to make a liquid, such as a soup with garlic, you can shred it by running it along a cheese shredder, the same way that you can shred ginger. this way you get very little pieces of the garlic that blend in with the rest of the food
if you just smash the garlic clove, all the flavor will come out, but at the end when you are done cooking, don't forget to take the garlic clove out of the dish so that someone doesn't eat it whole! haha

i hope this helps you. normally i just dice it up for everything i cook. i'm indian and i use a lot of garlic in the indian food i cook, so i'm used to having garlic on hand all the time.

Smash it with the flat side of a knife peel of the skin chop it up & chuck it in.
You can also add whole cloves to any roast whilst cooking [without peeling]
If its a bulb cut it in half cover in olive oil & roast, yum yum

Peel the clove, lay it on your cutting board and smash it with the flat side of your cleaver. Scrape it into the pan with a little oil, then add whatever you are cooking. (meat or veggies)

Actually if all it says is a clove of garlic, you would just plop it in there... : )

Anything different would say to mince, chop, etc...

You can add garlic to most things - either squish it and add or chop finely and fry gently in a little oil before adding meat or veg.

Depends on whether you need to remove it after-wards. Usually I peel it, chop it up and then add it to the other ingredients.

Smash it with the side of your knife, toss it in and cook. Remove after cooking, or eat.

Peel it first, then squeeze it through a garlic press.
