Ulcers are a breakdown of a mucus membrane or the skin anywhere on the body.
Stomach ulcers are caused by a bacteria and not by stress or the acidity of the stomach as once believed. Some people in their ignorance still believe that stomach ulcers are a result of the stomach eating itself. This is totally erroneous thinking, since an Australian Scientist proved it could be cured with antibiotics and actually isolated the bacterial invader.
Skin ulcers can develop externally from a wound that fails to heal. This failure may be due to numerous factors. Staph aureus being present at the wound site, diabetes and many other infective organisms that will delay the healing.
Some radical treatments have been to place maggots on the wound site to eat off the damaged and infected flesh. As gross as this sounds it has been very effective in keeping the area around the wound clean and allowing healing to take place slowly.
Antibiotic powders have been used but not always with good results as many organisms have become resistant to them.
I.R lamps have had some effects with some healing attempts. The response to treatment is very individual and should not be attempted without expert medical supervision.

Ulcer
There are many types of ulcer. Mouth ulcer and this one is maybe due to fungal infection. The treatment of this infection is by using oral antifungal agents ( Nystatin)
Stomach ulcer this one is maybe due to attacking of the mucus membrane lining the stomach with the acid (HCl) and this can be treated with (Ranitidine or local antacids)
Bed ulcer (sore) and this is maybe due to long sleeping on the back and this can be treated by some creams containing antibiotics (Gentamicin)

There are several types of ulcers.
Stomach ulcers occur when the stomach lining is damaged by excess stomach acid.
You can also have ulcers on the skin, caused by infection, poor circulation, and other reasons.
