Its regional. Trans Union is the most reliable on the West Coast- but lenders typically pull all 3 so the best one is almost irrelevant. They just want to make sure they are not missing anything. You need to keep tabs on all 3 bureaus.

Mortgage companies whether they are independent or within a bank, they all pull a 3-in-1, which means they check all three bureaus with all 3 FICO scores. they will make their decision based on the median score which is determined based on the highest and the lowest FICO score.
Credit card companies pull from different bureaus depending on your location., for example if you live in Florida and you want to apply for a Bank of America credit card, they will pull your credit file from Experian. This tend to vary from state by state with then,
Predatory lenders like HSBC and HRS/HSBC Retail Services will always pull exclusively from Equifax.

Your loan company will most definitely report any delinquency to the credit bureaus. If they are not, they are violating the law....but the winner is you and if I were you I would be happy. Being upside down in the what you owe compared to the value of the car...sucks. But, I would try selling the car privately for what you owe. Then, tell the loan people to report a payoff so you can get another car. Repo's WILL hurt your credit for up to 7 yrs. Do not do this if you can help it.

For almost any mortgage, they would pull all 3 bureaus every time, and qualify on the middle of the 3 scores. Some variations on this exist, but 90% work this way.
As for credit cards and other types of financing, I think it's more common to pull just one, and which company they use is at their discretion.
