I'm sorry you're having such intense feelings about things. Does cutting yourself have anything to do with feeling like you should be punished for something? It's not true, you know. God don't make junk! And he can forgive us for anything, but sometimes we can't forgive ourselves, if that is the problem.
You need to talk to someone who will listen and help guide you, but they need to know what you want. Your parents may not know where or how to get you the help you need, but your school councelor will know, and your minister will know, as well as your family doctor. In fact your doctor can help you by trying some different medications to see what works best for you (some work better than others for different people). When he finds the right one for you it should level out your moods and help you think more straight.
A psychiatrist is also an MD, but one who specializes in mental problems, and he's more knowledgeable about what kind of medicines work best for which people. You would not be admitted to a hospital right off, and if they did at all, it would not be for more than a month (three weeks more likely).
I was surprised to learn there are a lot of kids in mental wards, with learning disabilities and mood swings "oppositional defiant disorder" . At 10 years old?! He needs to be tested for allergy to see if what he's eating is causing that! I know from experience.
Please do remember that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. The bible says, "This too, shall pass."

www.myspace.com/siawareness This site has a lot of helpful information for people who want to stop cutting. It also has a ton of links to other sites that can help, and that can point you in the right direction as far as a therapist or counselor goes...if you need one. You have to be careful in choosing one, many of them still do not understand self injury properly. The owner of this site is wonderful and will talk to you about anything, as will everyone on the friends list.
BTW, I'm a 32 y/o self injurer. I quit for many years but have recently relapsed. I wish you all the best!

It is okay. You should go tell your parents becuase it is the best thing to do. They won't send you to an insane institute. They are ther to help you. Don't worry. It is probably just a stage you are going through. Just take it slowly. One at a time. Try to stop the habit. Maybe go see a doctor to see what is wrong. They are there to help you not hurt you. They won't send you to an insane institute. Just tell your parnets and every thing will be fine. They will help you not hurt you just remeber that.

talk to your guidance counselor at school and ask for help. you should see someone professional. what you are doing is a disorder. im pretty sure you can stop of you get the right people to help you. you should really talk to your parents about it. Explain to them that you're not crazy and you know it is pretty weird, and could be dangerous because of infections and stuff like that, and then tell them that you want to talk to someone about it. They shouldn't send you to an institution for that, I don't know if an institution would take you for doing that. Maybe...??? But, if it takes going to one of those places to help you stop, than I say Go!!! You can get very sick from cutting yourself. maybe even get HIV or AIDS. depending on what you cut with. but you can also get a staph infection. I"ve had that and it sucks!!!

Okay, you won't go to your parents and I understand why. The only thing I can think of is seeing a doctor to find out what you can do. If not, I did hear of one time that someone went to the hospital for something similar and received help. Unless, you want to be ononymous and call the hospital first for information?
I HOPE THIS REALLY HELPS?

your parents would do the best for you. You should talk to them, If the doctor says the insane hospital is the best for you, then you should acept it and see it as a way of improving your life. But don´t panic, I think your problem can be perfectly resolved ina doctor´s clinic.

I know this isn't the answer you want to hear, but you NEED to talk to your parents. If they are decent people, they won't send you to a mental hospital. In fact, they most likely will get you exactly the help you need.
