I think religion is more often than not fascinating (either good or bad) though i no longer hold onto the religious conceptions i held through most of my life thus far.

Religion can be a powerful positive force which can help people endure difficult hardships and even rise above them to live beautiful lives all through impressive displays of faith and love for humanity. Religion can help provide bonds between individuals and groups, and have a powerful impact on the lives of large numbers of people. Sure i may not agree with everything they believe, but i dont know if im capable to say that they is worth trying to maintain and protect.

However religion also breaks my heart sometimes (even if i have a bleeding one as is). No matter what someones belief toward an afterlife suggests, we can all agree that life on this world is short. Religion can be so unnecsarily divisive at times, in all walks of faith, and this is what often gets all the notoriety. Ever moment we spend tearing each other apart because they dont fit into our conception of religion is one more moment we have lost toward doing things to bring us all together to fight the things that drive us to hope that there is something better than this.

I cant really say that i would know whether or not no religion or more religion would be better for this world. I do know it has its good and its bad...like just about everything else in life. The best energies among religious practice are some of the most positive things ill probably ever come across. The worst seem like they can be just as bad at times. Religion is a fascinating thing, its just too bad at times we let the fascination we have with it keep us from doing more postivie fascinating things with the world we do have.

The real negative affect for many in America is Christians attempting to turn their personal beliefs into the law of the land. Unfortunately they have succeeded in several instances.

Religion can be positive like Buddhism or negative like Christianity and Islam so often are.

Any time someone sees themselves as right and every one else as wrong it creates negativity.

It depends a lot on the individual.
