Was he not born, bred and raced around a track for man's need to gamble? Didn't he fulfill that? Do you think he would've CHOSEN to jeopardize his life every time around the track for casual entertainment? Isn't it a shame that there are people in this world that are so bitter that they're the exact reason why millions around the world tuned into this story? Isn't it sad that there are those that missed the point? Isn't it shame we live in a world of war, corrupt politics, corporate scandals, child abuse, crime, hate etc., and amongst people who are more concerned about style than substance? Any species risking his life for mankind is a hero in my book, and so are his many connections that tried to save it.

Did he fight in Iraq? Did he cure cancer? NO! He ran around in CIRCLES!!! I love horses but this is nuts!!!
This is not a story, this did not have some pre- included moral. There was no point. The horse raced, had an accident, and got hurt. Horses die. You are personifying an animal. He was not aware that he was 'risking his life' He was only aware that he was racing.
He was not useless, but the asker of the other question that I believe you are targeting was simply saying "How dare certain people compare this death to the tragedy of 9/11" Which is being done, I heard it on TV an dthe radio. That was the point of that question. No the horse was not useless but in the context the other asker was asking yes. He was.
Cement up, the sports and horse world is tough.

Because they are cold rude uncaring people who don't have clue about true feeling for another creature, just because its a horse and not a person makes no difference to me, Barbaro and many others like Go for Wand and the great Ruffian gave there lives for our enjoyment, and really don;t ask for much in return other than maybe some food and water and a gentle hand from time to time

when a horse breaks its leg its put out to stud, it cant race anymore its just upto breeding now

Seeing as they wasted millions of dollars so he could go make babies and they killed him before he could do that, yes, I would say he was a bit of a waste
