Different girls like different things at different times of the month.
The first part has to do with different people liking different things. The second part refers to a study where women preferred scruffier men during one part of their menstral cycle and preferred effeminate men during another.
There are groupies for all kinds of different men. Aerosmith, Tom Cruise, Justin Timberlake, and Arnold Governator are all very different types. Each has his own following.
I think you are also asking if you should give up on the poetry-guy image.
My answer to that is: Play to a different group of girls. Your current audience isn't digging you.
This is called market segmentation in MBA jargon. It means you take your strength and apply it to the group of people most likely to appreciate you.
And if you can change to a different type, then you were not really "a poetry type of guy" by definition. You would then be in search of yourself by definition. This would be like when Aerosmith was a garage band. Finish your growth/search and then play to a good audience.

I like mature guys, but they have to have a sense of humor too. Don't get me wrong. You like poetry? Thats awesome. A lot of girls like poetry. Keep up with whatever you've been doing. I'm sure someone will come your way. Don't give up so soon.

Maturity and depth of character are those characteristics which make a girl stay. Humour (a good one- toilet humour alone does not cut it) will entertain her while she stays.
;-)
So- both.
Poetry is good- but IS it just "words"? Depth and maturity in expression may just not be "deep" and active enough for her...?
Nice start though- I have to admit liking a chap who has a way with words. Songwriters/singers being my particular weakness.
;-)

I feel the same way because I very quiet and all the girls I meet seem to go to my friends and that can get pretty frustrating But I prefer the quiet girls because the extroverted girls, most of the time seem to be full of Sh*t anyways you'll find someone don't worry

A balance. He needs to be able to tell when something is really bothering me, and when I say, "nothing," he won't quit asking until I open up. If I ask to be left alone for a lttle while then he does...He needs to be mature when it's necessary, but funny when hee wants to.
But why change? If you're trying to impress someone and they don't like you for who you really are, then they're not worth it.

i think it all depends on the girl...some girls like the deep mature guys...and others like the silly mess around type of guys...then you have girls who like a little of both mixed in...it all depends on the "flavor" the girl likes best

Well it depends or their personality and their taste. Maybe you should try finding a girl who really likes poetry and is really nice and sweet. And single!
