PetCo carries Yesterdays News... it's like little rolled up paper pellets. One bag was sufficient for us when we had our kitten declawed, which we had done at the same time we got her fixed.

Ignore those that are shaming you for declawing your cat. My husband's mom has a lot of cats, none declawed & all of her furniture looks like crap. I'd rather my cat have tender paws for a few weeks than to have all my nice furniture ruined because she tore it all to hell. Getting a cat spayed/neutered is just as much of an "unnecessary" surgery as declawing, but I'd rather be able to enjoy my pet, than to want to kill it for destroying my house.
It's a personal choice up to the individual pet owner & if it wasn't done in a safe way, it wouldn't be something offered by the vet. The cats are in pain when they get spayed/neutered as well, but how many people complain about that?

Have you tried a natural litter that is corn, wheat or even paper based, like World's Best, Swheat Scoop or Yesterday's News- these do not have the silica dust that clay does. I would also avoid litter that has added fragrances. One site I looked at suggest using pellet litter like Yesterday's News or Feline Pine to avoid having small particles that can get inside the stitches should you still do the surgery. I've not had cats de-clawed but I know it's more than removal of the nail, its nerve and bone too and is considered a total amputation of the toes and a two year old cat will be slower to heal particularly one with a compromised immune system as indicated by the discharge currently being experienced. You might consider adding an immune support supplement to the cats diet or even consulting a holistic vet for treatment options.

Yesterdays News is a great product you can get as a pet store. It's fairly cheap too. You can also use just torn up paper towels or news paper. Anything that is clean and won't get into the toes that could cause infection. Yesterday's News looks alot like grey pellets that is actually old news paper compressed. Most cats tend to do better with is because its similar to litter. By the way don't listen to these idiot bashing your for declawing. Most people don't feel the need to educate themselves about certain things before they take an opinion on it. They are just ignorant and can't accept that other people have there own opinions too.

You can find paper litter at pet stores.
OMG! Are people so insensitive that they don't care about the torture and pain that you do to your cat when you declaw it? People that declaw their cats think everything is fine and blame their bad behaviors on something else when in REALITY the cats do it because they were DECLAWED!
Some do alright but most will develop one or more bad behaviors like biting or not using the litterbox. Others their personalities change and they will get mean, aggressive or just not playful and happy like before. So why take a chance?
If you feel your furniture means more to you than your cat then get a DOG. But then dogs chew up furniture so why not pull out their teeth. Whats the difference? I don't get it.

Paper litter is rather common. It looks kinda like pellets. Petsmart,Petco, or any pet supply store will have it. Walmart or Target might also carry it.

In the rare cases we have to de-claw a cat at work, we shred old newspaper (just the black and white parts, not the ads) and it works just as well and is much less expensive.

You can get it at most animal hospital or animal clinics. Ask your vet. It around $15 a bag around here where I am.
I had a co-worker who used a paper shredder and shredded her own paper(clean of course) for her cat. Which you have to change the cat box every 2-3 days. I never was told about shredded paper with my second cat and his paws got infected and I had to get him an antibiotic.

That can be found in most stores in the litter isle. Or you could just get paper or newspaper and cut it into shreds that what I did for my cat to save some money.

There is one called Yesterday's News, that is pretty easy to find. If not you can try cutting newspaper into shreds and use that keeping it very clean in the litter box till the poor little paws are healed.
