My old social studies teacher in high school SWORE by this one... to the point where if you were hiccuping in the room during her class, she'd ask you to take a partner out in the hall and fix it.

Her way: Have a partner hold down the water faucet button while you plug both your ears and your nose with your fingers and at the same time drink some water.

It worked every time... otherwise you weren't allowed back in class!!!

I do it at home by myself by using a light plastic cup with only a little water in it (a few gulps worth) and plug everythign up and pick it up with my teeth. Or have a friend help! :-)

the best remedy is:
take a sip of liquid and hold it in your mouth and do not swallow
then stick your fingers in your ears
then slowly let the liquid go down your throat
when it is all gone
your hiccups will be gone
this method really works....

Since hiccups are caused by a spasm of the muscle that's known as the diaphragm, removal of the diaphragm offers an immediate and permament cure.

My most successful way is to hold you breath while you take ten sips and swallows of water, then slowly release your breath.
if it doesn't work the first time, repeat once more.

There is only one 100% way to stop the hiccups. It's also the easiest. Think.

Hold your breath for 10-20 seconds or if you can't hold it that long then just hold it as long as you can!

Hold your breath and swallow your saliva at the same time. Hard to do, but it'll work.
