When you commit yourself to a particular understanding of how life and the world work, it colors everything you think and do. Some people decide life is an allegory and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Some believe it is exactly what it looks like and any living you decide to do should be done now. And some think it is a test for another kind of life, a test with winners and losers. Many of them sincerely want as many people as possible to "win", along with them.
Belief effectively becomes reality for the believer. Therefore it applies to non-believers as well. A believer "hates" a different, incompatible belief system because it is not "true". If such a "false" system could be shown to be true, that would make it hard for the believer to maintain the system he has invested his life and fortune into. The world would no longer make "sense" according to the former belief.
The problem isn't really the faith. Everyone interprets and simplifies reality according to their own guiding mythos. The problem is with the incompatibility. A belief system with an ultimate, unappealable reward and punishment mechanism has higher moral stakes than one that doesn't. To some, the afterlife "matters". It's not just something everyone will eventually get around to sooner or later. That point of no appeal tends to make believers a little more anxious and motivated, partly out of concern for non-believers and partly to reassure themselves that they are right(eous).

I am sorry that the only Christians you seem to have come in contact with are the ones' who just don't get it.
The whole beauty of the Relationship is based on Love, understanding, not judging and accepting that everyone was created with the power to choose.
Christians are not supposed to threaten hell and damnation, our commission is not to convert , but to share. It is no wonder with the hypocrisy, arrogance and lack of knowledge, that the message has become skewed.
Christians- myself 1st- are not better than anyone else. I come from a long line of dirt sculptures. To assume we are goes completely against Jesus' teachings.
I do know that in my life- there would be no joy and very little hope if I didn't have Daddy God to constantly pick up the pieces. It's only natural to share when you've found something really cool- forcing someone else to buy it too, is not reasonable. It's not possible for me to hide this Light- people gravitate to me and then get all bent out of joint when I answer them honestly as to why I seem so different. No matter. This Light cannot be extinguished. I bubble when I consider how my life has improved- and that's even with the death sentence given to my by my doctors. Whatever. Today is an Awesome day!
You can be a pagan- I have studied organized religions and decided to go with non-denominational Jesus Freak. It had the most benefits and made the most sense to me. The love He showers on me is so overwhelming- it often brings me to tears.
Please don't lump us all into one category. True Christians can't hate- anyone or anything. We don't have to like it, but we know we aren't any where near qualified to judge-
I love you. Thank you.

Christians do not think we are better then everyone else we are spreading the message that we are all sinners. We all fall short of the glory of God. Everyone one on earth is a sinner and not perfect. We also believe that God is our creator and through his son is the only way to spend eternity with God. The options are limited Heaven or hell. We are not hateful of other religions we like God want no one to perish and go to hell. We want Heaven filled to the brim. The fact that some Christians are putting it out there that we are better then others or are being hateful of other religions proves that we humans are all sinners. If I am correct pagan religion worships the earth and nature. So could you agree that you are worshiping the creation and not the creator?

Why do all Christans think they are better than any one else and there religon is the best?
---------------------------
No, and no.
My relationship with Jesus is better than any other relationship I could possibly have. Not my 'religion'. My 'religion' has a bad name, thanks to people that generalize and view one person as a representation for an entire religion.
Besides, Jesus doesn't fit your description at all, and we're called to be like Jesus.
why cant they understan that not every one is gunna beleave in there GOD?
-------------------
I do understand that. I teach those that want to hear.
Don't generalize

Good point - so many christians act so arogant as if their form of religion is the only way forward.
The really sad part is that they're missing that the thing isn't thier form of religion but Jesus himself. A guy called Karl Barth tried to remind Christians that the point of Christianity is that God is above any human form - that's sort of the point of him being God. But that he came down to our level as Jesus and saw the very worst part of us so that he might bring us up to be with God.
Christians who don't know this end up thinking and acting as if it's their idea of religion that is better than anyone else's where sometimes people outside the church act in a way that is closer to Jesus than those inside the Church.
God gives his Divine Spirit to anyone who wants to get closer to Jesus more than anything else and he will sort out our messed up ideas eventually but in the mean time I'm really sorry for how arrogant Christians can be.
It's not how it's supposed to be.
I'm training to be a priest/pastor at Oxford Uni in the UK and I want to build a church of people who just want to be like Jesus - full of light and hope and truth and beauty and kindness and justice. If you ever feel like helping me do this - get in touch,

Not all Christians are like that.
For the rest, some are narrow-minded, some read the bible literally, some just don't care. But please don't assume we are all like that. I don't personally think I'm better than everyone else and I don't know if I can say that Christianity is "the best" - it's just what I happen to believe is the "best truth" as I understand it. But that doesn't mean I can't and don't learn from other religions.

Well let me ask you a question. Christian will tell you they were sinners and God had mercy on them and forgave them of there sins. You on the other hand love sin and worship a pagan religion and not God. And are judging christians. Christian speak from the truth of a real experence with God thru Christ, Gods messiah.
You on the other hand say enjoy your sin and follwo my sin. Pagan people promote mulitply sexual pardners, orgies and worst. There roots of the pagan religion comes from infant scrafice and sexual perversion and the practice of such. So when you are seeking to justify your sin you attack the people of God and of Grace to cover your on short falling before God.
Tell me do you lie, have you not stold, Are you not a slander and a bussy body. And have you not engaged in sex with men whom you were not maried to. And for that matter many men. So you are a sinner and want you sin over God and holyness. And you are hurt. You are your own worst enemy. Christians are point to a need from honestly before God. You are wanting to lay in a pit of sin and not think about God and your sin.
You hurt is self born the christians have nothing to do with your shame or your hurt. So you should consider making a change from the better and seeking God while time remians.

I'm sorry if you feel you've been hurt, but you've just stereotyped an entire group of people. How is that not hateful? The first time I met my best friend's Pagan husband, he was was wearing a dirty t-shirt that read "F*** Christianity" (he knew I was a Christian and that they were coming to see me). I don't think all Pagans are jerks just because he is. Most of my friends aren't Christians, and I certainly don't hate them. I can't think of anyone I truly hate. Sometimes, I despise a person's actions, but not them (not even my friend's husband).

Not hateful, merely we understand the end of what you're doing. I don't think I'm better than you are. In fact, you probably work for a living, while I'm sitting here an unemployed, disabled flake.
But I have a relationship with Jesus Christ that is more important than anything else. I know that without this relationship, I'd be doing what I wanted and slipping into the eternal judgment of eternally separated from Him. You call it "hell." Jesus called it "Gehenna of Fire." All I am doing is trying to warn you away from that. Jesus isn't bad like you've made Him to be in your mind, and your paganism isn't necessarily good like you've made it in your mind. I'm asking you to consider, as I have had to do, the possibility that you're wrong.

Do all pagans generalize? I'm a Christian and don't think I am better than anybody else and could care less if you believe in God or not. Do you think Paganism is the best? You obviously haven't been around this board much to see the atheist hate so evident on display.
