An Asp is the foldable baton that police now use instead of the old nightsticks. If you saw a police officer wearing an ASP pin, that means he has passed an asp training course and is certified to use one.

Sometimes different forces have different names for specailist units.Our force had shop squad which others didnt this could be purely a local unit.One unit was the fast action response team(FART) That was quickly renamed.
