Closed system: cannot build order without having something or someone come in from outside the system to add information and energy. Otherwise, what we see is what will happen: entropy.

We learned this in our biology lecture, the Professor explained that it seems like our bodies are going against the second law of thermodynamics, by building highly ordered molecules, proteins, lipids, DNA etc.. but he said something about the reason we eat food is to counter the effect of entropy. The guy is obviously an evolutionist, I do not let the conjectures of a few men affect me believe in God, rather I accept the explanations fellow humans have come up with and try to understand why they say that and what could possibly wrong with it.

I am a first year Science Student in University, I am also a Muslim.

I am always more than a little saddened whenever I hear someone use the second law of thermodynamics to try to disprove evolution. Someone with absolutely no science training would have never even heard of the the second law. Someone with even one or two semesters of college-level science (like me) would know that the second law does not disprove evolution. I can only come to the conclusion that anyone making this claim is purposely twisting science for his or her own means or else simply parroting something they heard but do not really understand.

Unfortunately twisting science for ones own means is not limited to the evolution/creation debate.

the mathematics grew to become into executed years in the past, luckily--in the sciences it would not replace. close by decreases in sickness are allowed as long because of the fact the entropy of the final gadget will develop. (i.e.--it takes artwork to reserve something from sickness--and artwork demands an enter of potential). for this reason, together as entropy can decrease in this planetary physique--issues order--because of the potential provided by using the nuclear fusion attitude of the solar-the final entropy of the solar/earth gadget will develop (the sum of the entropy alterations in the international and the solar is advantageous, it quite is greater disordered). wish no person brings out the previous observed some whirlwind in a boeing production unit assembling a 747 and DNA springing up from the primodial goo lol. whilst chemicals are prepare and potential utilized (for those reactions that are endothermic in nature at any fee) that's a provided that a chemical reaction will ensue. The chemicals have no decision yet to react. A whirlwind assembling a 747 is a a lot diverse animal--there is not any driving rigidity to place the products together. Given billions upon untold billions of chemical reactions that had to ensue daily (lower back--given the potential source--that's a a hundred% danger that those reactions will ensue) and given billions of days that those reactions occurs--the possibility that self replicating chemicals will at last ensue strategies cohesion. straightforward existence isn't only statsitically obtainable, that's in all threat. What occurs as quickly as an straight forward existence type evolves is the situation. A temperate unchanging environment promises no impetus for replace. the reality that earth has a moon supplies upward thrust to tides and climate. Getting smacked by using an asteroid, continental glide, vulcanism--have provided drastic alterations in the ambience. some species ought to no longer adapt to this sort of replace and died out, those in superb condition to stay to tell the tale in the replaced environment--did. at last in this physically powerful and ever changing environment--nature superior intelligence as a survival means.

The second law is basically irrelevent, you can think of entropy as being like garbage, as long as you have a place to toss it, you can increase local order, of course it takes work to toss out the garbage but in our case we have the sun. It is simple physics, for every photon we receive from the sun, we radiate about 20 photons, providing a net gain of about 19 units of order. Basically if the creationist argument were correct you could never clean your house and it would continue to get more cluttered, but we throw out the garbage, and that is what the sun allows the earth to do.

It doesn't.

Anyone that thinks it does doesn't understand the laws of thermodynamics nor evolution.

Oh stop encouraging them. You know good and well they're going to lie and say "Because order leads to chaos, not the other way around," even though you and I know that's utter bull$#!+.

"Total entropy increases in a universe or closed system, though entropy can decrease in a subsystem if accounted for by an equal or greater increase in another subsystem."

They forget that Earth is not a closed system, that every day it receives massive amounts of energy from the sun.

'There is no process that, operating in a cycle, produces no other effect than the subtraction of a positive amount of heat from a reservoir and the production of an equal amount of work.'

Now you tell us how this applies to evolution.

very careful now, we dont want the wrath of Jesus coming down on us. Jesus couldnt even spell thermodynamics

It doesnt. the earth is not a closed system. (did I just ruin your fun?)
