70,000 miles on the original rotary engine thats in the RX-7 im thinking of buying from a dealership.70,000 miles on the chasis is good but on the original motor, I dont know...I would do a compression test but I dont know how to.. Show I just expect to do a rebuild or drop a new motor in about 10...20 thousand miles.. btw is a 1994 touring model. All stock ..

For a rotary engine, it's about time to go. Good news is that they are cheap to replace - you should be able to stay within $2,500.

70K is about when problems really rear their ugly heads on these versions of the RX. Rotors start going bad and then they may seal back for a while, only to go out completely shorly after. I would wonder if the person got rid of it because they were advised by a mechanic that it was time. (Anybody w/ an RX of that gen better be or have a mechanic familiar with them) I love those cars but they are not dependable trans. just toys for the track or street.

you need to replace the motor in 10 to 20 thousand miles
if i was you right about now get a good tune up

this is a list of things u should replace

#1 New Spark Plugs

#2 New Spark Plug Wires

#3 have your coil checked out and replace it if needed

#4 replace the O2 Sensor

#5 replace the EGR

#6 replace the timeing belt
soon cus u never want it to brake or u will have to reaplace the
vavles

I've heard some issues with the RX-7 start to pop up around 60,000+ miles.

You'll be fine for another 70k if it has been taken care of...if not another 140k
