Andes is pronounced with a long a as in 'and' also a long e as in 'these'. Gobi is pronounced with a long o as in 'go' and i is pronounced as though it were a long e.

Andes; the A like in Ant, the E like in Best.

Gobi; the O like in Sort, the I like in Pig.

And that applies to every single spanish word. The vowels are always pronounced in the same way in every word.

and the U like a double O or like in Push.
