Place eggs in a saucepan with enough COLD tap water to cover completely by 1 inch. Bring to a ROLLING boil over HIGH heat. Once the water is brought to a rolling boil, PROMPTLY reduce heat to a lower medium boil and cook an additional 10 minutes for a “hard boiled” egg. For a “soft boiled” egg reduce the time by a few minutes.

They also sell egg timers that you place in the water. It will identify when an egg is medium, med-well, etc.

Well as long as the egg has been in boiling water for 12 minutes it's done.

Very easy. Put your eggs in a pot of COLD water. Put on the stove on high. Once you get a ROLLING boil, set a timer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, dumb out the water and cool. They will be done exactly right everytime.

what kind of nonsense are you people talking..

I am a chef

Try this

Boil a pan of water.........no eggs

Take off the heat, add the eggs, cover and leave for 3 minutes, dependent on how you like your eggs, adjust the time, for me I prefer 3 1/2 minutes, it also depend on the size of the egg.

I would suggest you ignore fools above me.....boil 10 minutes?? lol

Haha

Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool under cold running water, and peel.
when you peel and open them the yolk will be hard, not runny.

I got this tip from Rachel Ray! start boiling water. After the boiling starts, place eggs ( with thongs) into water and let them boil for about 2 min. cover the pan with a lid and shut of burner. I let them stand for about 10 min. They come out perfect every time!

Start off with cold water & bring to a boil over medium heat. Turn off heat, leave pan on stove & cover with lid. Wait 15 minutes, then drain & dunk eggs into icebath. They will peel easily & be perfect hard boiled every time....

They float...in case you forget to time them. Also, you can remove one from the pot and place it next to a raw egg. Spin both (for comparison) and if it's hard boiled, it will spin very fast.

Correct way...****Place them in a pot of COLD water and put flame on high or 20 minutes...hard boiled every time.****
