This is an answer from a fundie:
"Because evolution doesn't make sense. How did we evolve from monkeys?! And if we did, then why are there still "unevolved" monkeys. My science teacher didn't even beleive in evolution. She went church and was a Christian. Oh well. No use in trying to reason. We will know the truth in the end.♥ "

How is America supposed to compete in a future global marketplace when our youth are this ignorant?

It's not their fault. They only need the truth presented to them. Our education system is utterly FAILING to do this. It's also not their fault that they're indoctrinated into lies and mytholgy from birth.

Why ARE there still unevolved monkeys?

In case you don't watch TV, Christians already compete in the global marketplace. (fundie televangelists)

Seriously, I don't think anyone's beliefs on evolution would affect the global marketplace at all.

Lame, religion has nothing to do with the future of America in the global marketplace. Not buying into evolution will have no impact on America's future.

It might be wiser not to waste ones energy on that teaching. By the time u start a discussion or trying hard on where to cast the blame u are only teaching and spreading the knowledge, the best to do is don't discuss a topic like that and before u know it gradually and systematically it fades away. (What u do not know, nor hear cease to exist)

Wierd how all the wierdos started saying "but how does evolution have anything to do with the global marketplace".

And we see that lag behind other countries grow and grow and grow.

Thanks religious right for George Bush's America.

There is a whole group of people who are really rude and apparently don't even understand evolution spinning this stuff. I'm a Christian, but God didn't create us to show off our ignorance like this.

We should find out where this person was educated.. was he/she educated in the public school system or through a church school?

Then, we blame both the system and the government for doing such a shoddy job of educating our children.

At this rate, the U.S. won't be able to compete if our youth can't figure out basic evolution.

her science teacher was probably her mom. What does believing in evolutipon have to do with the global market place? Head out to the Middle East and talk about evolution. That will help you to form just great relationships with tmost of the locals.

I am worried about this myself. We had this discussion just the other day in our office. 50% of Americans don't believe in evolution, and it's just because they didn't have a good education. Maybe once the rest of the world starts kicking our butts we'll get the message.

Blame religion they are the ones giving kids this crap and it makes no sense I hope that these kids when they get older have enough sense to look into evolution and see how wrong there religion is.

And if we have people running around using god as a reason in gobal matters... we're screwed.
