I have not seen these figures before. I sounds similar to the skeletons used in Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. They could also symbolized the Baron and his wife Maman Bridgett. They are the mother and father of the dead. The Baron is always seen as wearing a top hat, black suit with tails, and sometimes sunglasses with one lens out to symbolize him seeing into both worlds. Maman Bridgett is usually seen in a purple wedding gown holding a bouquet of black flowers. She is also sometimes seen as having her nose and ears stuffed with cotton and her eyes and mouth sewn shut like a corpse.

I am sorry, I am not familiar with these symbols. Perhaps some see marriage as dying to one life and beginning another?
