imoved away from home 2 yrs ago and had no family at the place i moved... i've made many friends etc, but i'm experiencing a coldness from my family... last week, i told them i was going to see a big star in concert and none of them said have fun or anything.. they instead constantly put me down, e.g. saying am a liar and basically making fun of me.. my father once told me that my sister was better than me simply because she had a job and am just trying to get myself together in a completelydifferent country... i haven't heard from them since i told them i was going to the concert... they've told me before that i disappointed them although i managed to graduate from college and don't live under their roof anymore.. i am now seeing a man who respects me and treats me well and they can't even be happy for me.. all my mother will say is that there's h.i.v going around! there's so much to be happy about yet i feel so sad cuz i feel they don't care.they haven;t called.. not even my sis's.

Family is important but if they make you feel bad maybe you should talk to them and try to work out what is going on,if that does not work then sometimes you need to cut your loses and move on, life is too short not to be happy

You need to go on with your life. Yes call every now and then, tell them that you love them, and let them be the ones to persue the relationship with you. You sound like you have done the right thing and are going forward with your life. You have been through college, and are now in a good relationship. Sounds like their might be a little jealousy. Point is just go on. You can't make everybody happy and in reality, as parents they should be happy that you are doing well and you are happy.

You say you feel they don't care, because they haven't called. Have you been calling them? Use any excuse to call them and keep the contact going. When you do call, don't mention to them the things you are doing or the relationships you have that are bringing you satisfaction. It may sound like bragging to them, and they may feel that YOU are trying to put THEM down. Just call and ask how they are doing and show that you care about them. Don't say much about your life unless they ask. Show that you have a genuine interest in them, and they may begin to respond. Give them plenty of love and patience.

Family is important.You should try and work it out with them either by phone or write a letter. If not you are just going to have let go and move on.

the want to be loved and cared for and respect for who you are by the ones you love is pain-full and maybe one day you will get it from them and maybe you wont, be yourself cause its sounds like everyone else likes you and you have a great man..don't let them bring you down and be proud of yourself. its hard to make a life for yourself and it sounds like your doing it, good on you.

Well let them go. If they can't respect what you've got then they are not worth it. You may feel cold and harsh, but thats what life is.

i take it you are gay. sorry your fam doesn't accept it. i've never any experience with that type of relationship, not in my fam or friends or anything. keep on trying, they are the only fam you've got. even in death, they will be your family
