If your goal is to lose weight (fat) then eat _after_ you work out.

If you're already thin enough and are planning a ride longer than 2 hours, then go ahead and eat (lightly) before you ride.

It is better to bike before AND after lunch. (If you bike during lunch you might fall off or worse still, drop something). Either way you won't suffer any great ill effects. The more riding you do the better you will eventually feel. (so try before and after breaky/tea also)

If you have just eaten a large lunch you will not perform as well since your digestive system will be competing for energy.(This will slow you down a bit.) You might feel a little sick if you push too hard, so take it easy. If you eat something small (energy bar etc) every hour you will be able to bike until tea.

If you have food in your digestive system when you exercise your body can turn it into glycogen (muscle fuel) and use it straight away. rather that turning it into fat.

If your exercising at your aerobic threshold fat will account for 50% of the first hours energy requirements, this rises to 70% in the second hour and 80% in the third hour. If you burn all your glycogen stores you will "bonk"(not able to make up that 20-30%). So it is important to keep some food in your system if you biking any distance.

When I bike on my lunch hour at work, I usually have lunch first, then head out for a ride. Haven't encountered any problems from eating first. If you were running, though, I would eat after.

any kind of sports must be practiced before eating...or you have to wait at least 5 hours then practice it...cos of the stomach mechanism...

You need something in your stomach, or you will "bonk"...
