My sister said that no one uses balloons to decorate wedding recepitons anymore. But I am not sure either because i havent seen it at all lately but it would be something diffrent. What have you guys seen out there in terms of balloon decorating at the reception. is it a good idea??

It's a very good idea. I saw different kinds of wedding balloons in this wedding magazine. I've seen balloons near the cake table and food table.

While there are a lot of people who do not think wedding receptions should be decorated with balloons, others still find it an alternative way for decorating. I would suggest looking for companies who specialize in balloon decor for weddings. If it's done appropriately, it can be a very nice alternative. Just remember, it is your wedding and you should decorate your wedding the way you feel. While I personally didn't use balloon decor for my wedding, one of my husband's cousins recently used balloons for their wedding. Also a good family friend of mine specializes in balloon decor and she does a lot of weddings as well.

I have to be honest and say that none of my clients have ever used balloons to decorate their wedding but maybe you can be the one to bring them back into style! It's your wedding and if it's something that you love the idea of then you should go for it! When my cousin got married they had a really cool balloon arch behind the wedding table. In my opinion if you do it do it tastefully. Don't go overboard with it. I wouldn't suggest decorating every table and doorway with balloons but if you have a good decorator she may be able to suggest some very tasteful ideas for you.

Happy Planning!

I do not see any reason that it is not ok anymore. Every wedding I have been to has balloons. It adds fun to the party. You don't have to do what everyone else does at their receptions, do what you feel will look good.

No, they are really dated and in my opinion sorta cheap looking, I will tell you that I went to a Mardi Gras Ball in New Orleans the year before katrina hit, and they had the coolest centerpeices that were like nothin i'd ever seen. They had flower arrangements, but had weighted the strings of these HUGE white ballons in the center of the arrangement, and each table had this massibe white balloon that was probably 3 feet big that floated about 5-6 feet above the table so it made a really cool impression when you saw them all, but the guests could still see each other. It just looked like the ballon floated right out of the arrangement, it was actually very elegant but Ive never seen anythin like it again. that was the only time Ive seen ballons that I liked!

I'm not a big fan of balloons at a wedding. They just seem cheap to me. But then again, you'll never please anyone, so if you want them go for it.

I've seen people make the balloon arch at the enterance of the reception or around the cake table.
