i think that is a great idea, if anything men of god should be the ones in those positions no godless men who are not capable of judging correctly. i would pray to god to guide you and if he leads you to this i think it is just what any nation needs is someone that is going to execute justice under the direction of God and his word.

You ask this question because you've read "thou shall not judge, lest he be judged". Honey, we are all judged. Every second of every day of our lives, someone is looking at us and forming a thought about us. Does it make them evil? Are they going to he|| for it? Doubtful. It's just society's influence on them. What you are asking is to do something good. For the greater good. If you plan on becoming a judge to have the opportunity to leave the world in a better place than which you found it, then by all means...be a judge. It's not an easy job, it's not one where you are going to be well liked, however, if you do the "right" thing, it's going to be a rewarding job that you should not fear. Judges do more than put people in jail. They settle disputes, save children from abusive parents/caretakers, they put criminals away so they can't victimize anyone else and more times than not they take the necessary actions to keep civilization actually civil. To me, it's a great thing...but only if you are doing it from a positive standpoint. Being Christain, I think you are. Follow your heart honey, God will never steer you in the wrong direction.

I have a friend who just got elected a District Court Judge. He is a Christian. He will be an awesome judge, but it's hard. He can't spend as much time being in leadership positions in the church because of his job as a Judge. But as he was told by the leaders of the church, there needs to be good men who are judges, and they would rather him be a judge than not.

I believe that would be a very worthy profession for a Christian to take up. Law enforcement is a part of God's work so go for it. We need as many Christians as we can get in all parts of the law.

I think it is. I think as long as you feel called to it then you are fine. If you feel God is leading you somewhere else than it might not be the profession for you. I hope if you do pursue a judge that you will do great I think we could definitely use some more Christian judges. May God Bless You.

Is this a profession where you could make the world better than it might otherwise be? Can you help others to understand God's love for them? If so, it's a good profession for a Christian. Martin Luther (not King) taught that your vocation (your work) is your calling and is your way to serve God. If you are a pig farmer, do that to God's glory, and you are serving God.

to be honest the judicial system doesn't always agree with christian beliefs, but a judge would have to uphold the law of the country weather it was right in his or her religion or not. so like a christian politician, i dint think you would make it very far up the judicial chain, and certainly not be very popular. let God do the judging. there are a lot of other things you could do to make a difference.

I have a few Christian friends who are lawyers, and they seem to handle it well. The first one that comes to mind handles property law ( a lot of zoning issues). I haven't seen any conflicts there. I'm not sure how well it works with criminal lawyers, but you don't have to be a criminal lawyer to become a judge.

Jesus did not have much good to say about lawyers because they seem to want to twist the laws to fit their own personal gain.

Not all lawyers are bad. There are plenty of good lawyers who do try to uphold the spirit of the law.

I would say, go for it. Just be on guard that you always follow Jesus first and let that be your guide as you make decisions regarding the law.

Much of American Law is based on the Bible. You would be sworn to uphold all laws, not just the ones you agree with. I think it would make a fine profession for a person who cares about his religion, so long as he is able to apply the wisdom and morality of his beliefs in a way that adheres to the meaning of the laws.

You will get a great deal of answers here but it all boils down to you obeying what God wants you to do. I know a leader in our church is a lawyer and people who come to him who are not Christian notice there is a difference with him. He does not lie and he tells you things as they are. Talk to God and continue your studies unless you are sure God is telling you to stop. God Bless!
