Jesus was crucified and not hanged like Saddam because during that time in history they did not hang people using ropes. Crucifixion was the death of choice the Roman used, as well as the Greeks before them. Alexander the Great crucified 2000 people on crosses when the city of Tyre was destroyed.

' The Bible says cursed is everyone that is hung on a tree. In order to take everyone's sin upon Himself He must hang on a tree or wood having come from a tree. Gal 3:13 "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hanged on a tree." Deut. 21:23 Also speaks of this law. "His body shall not remain upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; ( for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
