Our government/courts are giving automatic citizenship to babies born on US soil even though both parents are illegals. They are using the interpretation of the 14th Amendment to give these babies citizenship rights. However, the purpose of the 14th Amendment was to grant citizenship to newly released slaves and their children. The Amendment specifically states that if a person is a citizen of another country, and they give birth on US soil, the child's citizenship is that of the parent/parents. Do you believe that the 14th Amendment needs revised so that it is interpreted and applied properly? Do you feel that the babies born to illegals should automatically gain US citizenship and rights?

Children born of illegals should not be given citizenship. Most of them don't consider themselves American or even speak English anyway. We saw it last May in California when kids streamed out of the high schools waving Mexican flags and screaming "Viva Mexico."

In earlier times the govt would of put an end to that real quick.

We have Juanita jumping across the border 8mths pregnant to get her golden egg, and then has 3 more golden eggs, and gets free healthcare, welfare, etc all at the expense of the working American taxpayer.

the child should take the citizenship of the parents. If the parents did not come here illegally, the child would have been born in whatever country they immigrated from.

No they should not,,, they should be citizens of the parent's country of origin. At least 1 parent should be a legal citizen of the US for their children to be automatically given US citizenship. No more "anchor babies"...

Never! because they-(illegals)-are having babies for that very reason, to ensure their citizenship.

i always interpreted that law as kind of "the spirit of the US" if you were born here, it's in your blood, you are an american!! and all that stuff.

but now that i see the abuse...and it's from illegals...then, i would say NO. i think even if you are here on a work visa, or student visa, or even a tourist visa...whatever, sure, welcome! but if you just busted in to have that baby...no, that's abusing the law.
