I had a headache the other day, and I had no idea what I could take for it.

About the only OTC you're likely to tolerate is acetaminophen (Tylenol or Excedrin). Consult your doctor for more information.

Many ulcers are caused by bacteria (Helicobacter); if this is the case and you get treated you might be able to use other NSAID's again.

If you have an ulcer then any NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) could potentially make it worse. That includes ibuprofen (Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), and many others. Aspirin is very similar to an NSAID and can also irritate/damage the stomach lining.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol, other brands) is not an NSAID and should not irritate the stomach lining. This would be my first choice for an over-the-counter pain reliever if you cannot tolerate an NSAID. Someone else commented about Tylenol causing bleeding--this is not a typical side effect of acetaminophen.

You should speak to your physician if you have not already done so about why you have an ulcer. They are most commonly caused by NSAIDs or a stomach infection called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori).

Are you taking any medications such as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) to help the ulcer to heal?

Finally, if you had an ulcer in the past which has now healed, you may be able to take an NSAID, particularly if it is only an infrequent/occasional event, or you may be able to take an NSAID if you are also taking a proton pump inhibitor. You should discuss this with your physician.

Best thing to do in that case is go to your local drug store and ask your Pharmacist.
I take Aleve, haven't had any trouble with it. But with you it might be bad.
Tried Tylenol but it caused bleeding.
