Yes call them, and pray they don't come knock your door down looking for your relative! ;)
Call them from a payphone. Also tell your relative to lay low after you make the call.
I had a buddy who thought there was a warrant for him, he called the police dept pretending to be a concerned relative.
They told him there was no warrant and yet about 36 hours later they came knocking on his door with a warrant.

Call the agency that the warrant was issued from, and ask them.
