Take the dog back to the vet. Now. He is your dog and he is your responsibility. You have to take care of him.

It could be cancer, it could be an abscess -- you'll never know unless you take the dog to the vet. I just don't get it. People want the easy way out when their animal is ill. They don't want to pay for a vet visit. Sorry, but my pets are my family and if my family is sick, I get them treatment, at any cost. I have 2 kids and 2 dogs. If my child were to loose weight and form a lump on the side of his or her face, there wouldn't be any hesitation to seek medical treatment - AT ANY COST.
Bring the dog to animal control and relinquish your rights as a pet owner. As a single Mom, I know the struggles of everyday life. I am a waitress and it's not uncommon for me to come home after serving 2 or 3 tables and try to determine where that $12 I made that day is going to be spent. So, I do understand the hardships of not having money, but my children nor my pets will suffer because I don't have the money. I took on that obligation 16 years ago with my first dog. I am still fulfilling that obligation with her.
Either bring the dog to the vet or give the dog up.

TAKE HIM TO THE VET!!! If your child was losing weight and had a lump on the side of his/her face would you even think "Oh, I can't afford to go to the doctor". You shouldn't have gotten a dog if you aren't willing to provide proper care for it!
You cannot tell if it is cancer w/o going to the vet. It could be cancer, it could be an abscessed tooth or some other infection. Do right by your dog and seek treatment. MOST VETS ARE WILLING TO WORKOUT PAYMENTS if you show good faith.

In all honesty the only way to tell if a dog has cancer is if they are diagnosed by a vet. Sometimes they will get a tumor, but even then some tumors are not cancerous. The best thing to do is take you dog to the vet and make sure that he is okay.

There is no way to accurately diagnose cancer or the cause of the swelling on your dog's face without going to a vet.
Call the vet and ask if he can let you make payments on account for your dog; apply for CareCredit (a sort of credit card for veterinary services) or get an estimate from the vet and then apply for assistance funding through places like imom.com.
Your dog needs veterinary assistance NOW, and he can't do that himself. Be a responsible caregiver and get him the help he needs.

Unfortunately, I think only a vet can correctly diagnose cancer in your pet.
I know so many people who love their pets but just can't afford to care for them the way they really ought to. I know money is tight, but you can't let your dog suffer. You need to think about the well-being and happiness of this life that depends on you for everything.
I'm not lecturing you...you'll get plenty of that here. Even if you could diagnose your dog at home, what could you do without money to buy medicine or treatment for him? I know you love him, but we must always do what is best for the animal. If he is suffering, please consider asking your local ASPCA for assistance with veterinary bills or low- or no-cost vet care.
Good luck!

You have to find a way to cut our an expense somewhere so you can take him to the VET. Its the moral thing to do, that dog deserves to see and vet and be suffering. Do the right thing for your dog..

My neighbors dog had this huge butt and she kept saying it was fatty tissue. I kept arguing with her and finally it died. She took it to the vet to have it cremated and he said it was a tumor cancer. I also had a dog that started bleeding from her behind and it was cancer. I agree with the other people it is your responsibility to take the dog to the vet. Please dont let him suffer he could be in pain right now.

you won't know what is wrong unless you take him to the vet. ask them to help with a payment plan, if its too expensive. if there is something seriously wrong with him, you might have to put him down. the only way to know if its cancer, you have to have him checked. i wish there was a way to find out without the vet but unfortunately animals can't tell you what is wrong to help diagnose them. good luck

It's not fair to your dog if he is sick and not being treated, you do not want him to be suffering.
Take him to the vet, most of them will treat the animal prior to paying then ask if you could set up some sort of payment plan or something.
Be good to your pet and take him....
