You should avoid sunbathing...*period*!
The risk of skin cancers, including deadly melanoma, is much increased in people who have large sun exposure history.

You should avoid sunbathing any time of the year as it is the leading cause of skin cancer. Skin cancer doesn't care if you are a teen or an older person and it is deadly if not caught in time. It worth risking your life just to sunbathe?

Sunbathing is not really a good idea anymore. pollutants in the air have caused already harmful rays to be magnified. If you still go out to 'sunbathe', you should wear sunblock.

No, you don't have to avoid it, but you should avoid getting a sunburn because it will make you feel hot and you won't know if you have a fever.
Also, if you are taking medicine you should not go in the sun.

Tough call. The sun does cause cancer but also alleviates some skin diseases, like psoriasis, which nothing else will alleviate.
