The best shampoo for me is; Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment shampoo. It comes in a blue bottle and the shampoo color is orange. It has a different ingredient in it than the original Head and Shoulders. It is 2% pyrithione zinc formula.

I'm assuming you've tried Head & Shoulders dandruff shampoo. I get a really itchy scalp also and I couldn't figure out why the shampoo wasn't working very well, but the trick is to wet your hair and then seperate it into sections and work the shampoo into your scalp first.. make sure you concentrate on the itchiest spots. Good luck.

There are a number of reasons your scalp could itch. If the standard dandruff shampoos don;t work for you it may be because the itch is caused by an over growth of the heads normal fungus. I use Nizorol because that seems to be my problem. Head and shoulders is good for standard seborrheic dermatitis but won't work for a fungal problem at all.

I use an anti flaking shampoo such as Selsun Blue or Nizoral....they are a tad more expensive but they do the trick! Selsun Blue with the green cap is the mostiurizing formula and works wonders for a dry scalp!

hot oil treatment.
Sometimes some shine spray helps. THere are lots of conditioners that give moisture, as well. Leave-ins do well this time of year. But, I like the hot oil treatments and you can buy them and use them with your own dryer. A small amount of olive oil on your fingertips massaged into your scalp is also That also helps.

On an evening where you are going to be alone or at least staying home, rub some olive oil into your scalp and let it sit for a while. Olive oil, unlike other oils, will wash out of your hair.
