I am looking into buying a house with my boyfriend of three years, however I am torn as to what to do. Can someone give me some tips on what they do when they need to make a tough decision? Thanks!

follow your intuition, do what makes you feel the best. Picture yourself in one situation and imagine how you feel, then do the same for the other. Choose the one that feels better but don't let worries creep in. You can never control the future and worries are only set in the future.

make sure that the relationship is on firm ground. make sure that all the paperwork is in place, do not assume anything, and do not go on the fact that he is a great guy right now,Stuff happens every day, and you are aware of it because you are concerned enough to ask this question, so when you go to sign the papers have your questions brought along with you, as well do not let any one say that is between you and your boyfriend, remember if it is NOT in writing then you do not have anything. This is a huge investment and you need to have it safe, if you can not afford to throw away all you invest, make sure it is all in writing, and signed by you, your boyfriend, and a witness. ^She beat me to it. That's a great place to start. If you are having doubts, and those doubts are based on your relationship status, get the house in your name only, that way if the relationship goes bad, you won't be out on the street or have to go buy another one. If you are having major concerns about it (where your bf and you are concerned) maybe it's not such a good idea. You should be sure and feel solid about taking this next step.
If your concerns are not relationship based, then it's just the whole house issue, buying a house is a big step, and should be treated as such. Do your homework and you'll be fine.

I would advise waiting. If you were married, then I'd say go for it as long you have a good marriage, but there's only unspoken commitment in your kind of relationship. Yet if you believe that you and your boyfriend are going to be together and don't have any plans of separating anytime or ever, then go for it. Just make sure that the two of you discuss very thoroughly the pros and cons of going into this.

Make sure that both names are on the deed if you will be helping pay for the house and furnish and repair it...see an attorney to make sure the rights of both u and ur boyfriend r protected, because without a legal marriage...you have no legal rights unless it's in a contract

I drink, but that's probably not good advise. You just need to think everything through thorougly. Buying a house is a huge step so be sure before you do it. Make a list of pros and cons and see which outweighs which.

3. In this case I would also advise that you treat the purchase of a house as a business deal. Draft terms in the event that one of you wants to sell, or one does not pay their portion of the mortgage, etc. A Lawyer would be the person to contact in this case.
