I would say race yes, morals background, no, because your values define who you are as a person but you can't change the color of your skin.

My boyfriend is from another country, and we definitely have had our share of cultural clashes. He is controlling, but not possessive. It was really hard at first, and neither one of us really expected our relationship to last. we've been together for a year now, and I couldn't be happier. It's still hard at times. most women from his country are very submissive, and I'm very independent. We are able to work through it though.
