You posted your question in the wrong area but here's my reply, anyway:

Film: Nikon N80
Best lens: Nikkor AF 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6D (set it to "P" Mode, full auto mode)
Alternative lens: Nikkor AF 35-105mm f/3.5-5.6D-macro
This is the best camera to learn photography with, and best camera for taking a beginner's course with; it is also considered The Poor Man's (Woman's) Pro Camera; can also be used fully automatic and has three types of metering, and a built-in flash!
Best place to buy: (for great prices: www.keh.com)

Digital: Nikon D50 (set it to "P" Mode, full auto mode)
lens: 18-55mm AF DX f/3.5-5.6G (or the kit lens that comes with the D50)

IF you want a less expensive digital, try the Canon S3 iS with its built-in lens lens (12X); the lens is NOT interchangeable.
