I'm getting married in a rustic log lodge in the mountains. I want rustic but still wedding elegant. Any ideas for decorating, favors, centerpieces, etc.?

for centerpieces:
this is an easy one you can do yourself....start saving coffee cans! You can use all one size or different sizes for some depth. Use a sharpie and "dot" out some designs on the cans (you can do hearts, last initial , startbursts, scrolls...whatever you like) keep the bottom of your design(s) at least 2-3 inches from bottom of can. Use a dremmel or simple hammer and nail and "punch out" your design(s). Paint the can with a textured rust or cream/beige (or do some in each!) paint that you can get from any Lowe's or Home Depot. Tie an organza ribbon in your wedding color or just simple gold around the base of the can (that's why you need the 2-3" space) Place a large pillar or jar candle inside the can...as an option you can also decorate the outside by setting the can within a grapevine wreath decorated w/wild flowers and berries. TIN CAN LUMINARIES! I've done them and they were a HUGH success!

For favors, they make chocolate shot glasses that can be purchased from a caterer/party/grocer supply store. I can get them here at 60 for $18. Get the custom color m & ms at 3 1/2 lbs for $5.99 and fill the glasses, wrap and tie off with netting and ribbon in your coordinating colors. I'm making these for mine and it's only going to cost approx .90 each to do almost 100.

LOTS of grapevine and white lights for general decoration though!

I also have other centerpiece ideas involving an inverted wine glass w/candle...monogrammed paper luminaries...and more. I also have a few more favor ideas....feel free to email me, I didn't want to bog this posting down!

We're going for the same idea. Our theme is daisies, and we're doing everything we can to not cover up the natural beauty of the surroundings. Keep your decorating as natural as possible. Live flowers, simple vines here & there. Don't use those honeycomb bells, streamers, and such.

We're using fishbowls with either goldfish or beta fish as our centerpieces. There will be daisy heads floating on top, colored glass gems in the bottom, and they're going to be sitting on a hexagon-shaped mirror. Daisy heads will be sprinkled sparsley around the centerpiece.

When you're working with nature, less is definitely more!

Congratulations.

How about lanterns for centerpieces?
Lucky horseshoes for favors

How about some of the decorations made out of rusted tin? If you don't want to buy it pre-rusted, you can rust it yourself. You know, make a square shape with cut outs in the sides & place candles in side. You can cut the tin with a good pair of scissors.

One outside, farm wedding had the 'aisle' lined with shephard's hooks & hung on the hooks were mason jars. Lit candles were inside the jars. Wedding color streamers were hung from the hooks as well as from the lower branches of the tree under which the wedding took place. Mason jars were also used as vases for the table centerpieces. Cool look.
