I live in Chicago, and I keep seeing bilboards with one single word on them in large brightly-colored letters. They say things like "Humanity" and "Green".

What message are these signs trying to convey?

A quick Google-search (sorry ...Yahooligans) turned up something interesting -- 'Humanity in M-----' a .org type of syrupy save the world through college-kids sort of group (typically amount to nothing, other than a paycheck for 8-10 fatcats raising cash, and spending some on billboards?) Kind of like the "save Darfur" efforts make people feel better about themselves by sending/posting emails... as 10,000s starve right now (and amounts to nothing). I'm not saying that's the group advertising -- and I'm far too experienced to apply my opinions to any company online (since Yahoo gives away your name for lawsuits in a milli-second!!). My guess is, it may be ads that were given to this group by the Billboard company for a teaser campaign that's gonna save the world -- therefore the billboard company can take some $$$ off their taxes, as a give-away to a Not For Profit. See how that works?

Sounds like it might be part of a campaign and you'll have to wait and see. The last billboard will most likely have a company name or brand name on it. The other thing to note is that sometimes, the billboard company itself will run these types of posters... if they cannot sell the space, they will put up words like that to inspire and connect to the community. Better than having a blank billboard for weeks.

The whole point of a campaign is to draw curiousity along the way - hoping that people will stay tuned to find out what its really about.

Hope this helps!
