pee-a-boo and then get 2cups same size and colors if possible and do the hide the ball thing ,let him see where you put the ball and only switch them only one time for awhile till he catches on and teach him to find the ball,Also another game is go ahead and teach him a color or two with store bought flash cards or make your own out of notebook paper and markers or crayons red is good to start with since this is the color they are drawn to quickest just say red over and over and then find a couple of simple items around the house like a red bowl or a plate or toy ,ball etc ask him to show Mommy where is a red if he doesn't get this just keep on with the card w/ red and repeating this he will get it rather quickly you will be surprised.Have him put objects in one thing like a pot or plastic bowl and move them into the other thing,ie pot ,bowl whatever you came up with.I always likes to use a muffin tin the ones with 6 holes the 12 holed ones are a Little too busy for him at this age.Put his snacks in the muffin tin and ask him to find them and just make a huge deal out of anything he does right or wrong he'll get soon enough enjoy teaching him but please be patient sometimes it seems they will never get it but them little boys will be doing it all on his own one day when you least expect it .Enjoy that precious bundle it is a gift of God !

Hid an object in front of him. This will teach him object perminence. Like the ball under a cup game. Start drawing with crayons too. Stay away from playdoh, glue and watercolor paint. He is too young. Wait until closer to 20 months.

My 1 year old daughter love fingerplay songs like Wheels on the Bus and This Little Piggie.

Also, I took a coffee can, cut a slot in the top and gave her yogurt tops, milk caps, paper coins, etc to put into the top. She loves to put them in, take them out.

One last idea, you can use different sized pillows, your couch, whatever you can think of and build something easy for him to crawl around and on. He'll love it and it's soft and safe.

my son loved tipping blocks out and sweeping them up with a little broom, and we used to hang a rope with streamers flying down and he loved running through that, also you can do heaps of things with cardboard boxes, make cars, houses, towers, put things in and let him take them out again, they really like cause and effect games like buliding a tower and knocking it over, blow up lots of balloons and let him try catch them all, playiung wit water if its warm enough. my son pretty much just like running around outside lol, oh and no diaper time.
