Something weird has happened in my relationship...when my b/f and I first got together it was 3 1/2 yrs ago..we were younger then and we always butted heads...we bickered a lot and got in fights a lot...I used to be the clingy one who wanted attention and to spend time together, and he was always the hard a$$ who wanted to spend time w/his friends...All of a sudden he has been really into our relationship...for the past year (I don't know if him moving to Japan to be in the Navy has anything to do with it) but he is really attentive now and almost too clingy himself!! Why did he go from one extreme to the next? He's talking marriage now and how he never wants to be apart from me....
weird huh?

Military service turns boys into men. Through military training, he has learned the true value of a good woman. He has learned to respect in order to be respected. He has also learned, through the exposition to another culture, where women are treated as man's servants, to value and treasure the relationship he had with you. It may be weird to you at the moment but thank heaven he has become a better man, partner and future husband and father! I was in the USMC and speak from experience! Love and respect a man that would lay is life down for his country and family!

Maybe he is scared to loose you while he is away. Sometimes relationships move on and you grow as a couple - perhaps this has happened here? Decide what you want and do it. Because when he is actually away it makes the heart talk through rose coloured glasses (trust me) dont marry a military man until you are positive it is the right thing to do for both of you. Dont marry just cause he is leaving. Good luck.

I am in the service and I know when I've had relationship's and been over seas I tend to try and hold on to what reminds me of home and safety. I think he will be like this as long as he is gone and probably for a little while after he gets back
I think it will wear off after a while after her gets back and things will go back to the way they were. Don't get rid of him while he is gone just hang in there he would rather you break his heart after he returns not where he is alone in the world.

He is afraid that while you are gone you will meet someone else.It sounds to me like he loves you , but you will have to choose for yourself,this is not the kind of thing you should let others choose for you.
