Japan had major plans to invade and take over China. This started in the early 30's but began in earnest in 1937. The conflict then became involved in WW II . An interesting children's book written by an American airman, Meindert de Yong, is a fictional account of American effort to help China . This is based on his own experience of his barracks in China adopting a lost Chinese boy. The title is House of Sixty Fathers.
