... in the AV sockets on a TV? I recently got a new philips HD slim tv, but as i'm getting a nintendo wii soon, you can buy a 'component HD' cable for it to improve graphics, but I cant find the sockets for it. So really, do they have seperate outlets, or are they just the AV sockets?

Thanks

Component HD cables look similar to composite (RCA) cables. The colors for component are red, green, and blue. They process video only. Composite (RCA) are also needed (white and red) for audio.

Component video and composite video are two very different things!

component HD cables ... the video signal is split into three parts thus the need for three cables (color coded green, blue and red). Component video needs to be hooked up to component video input.

Composite video ... the signal travels on one cable ( color coded yellow). It is the least desireable way to send video to an HDTV.

RCA jacks are red white and yellow. component are red, white, yellow, green and blue.
If it's a new HD slim tv, i guarantee it has at least one set of component cables, proabbly two inputs.
