Im 28 and want to join the police force.Im healthy but just need to work on my fitness alittle bit more.The only problem is i was born with a heart murmur,it doesn't effect me in anyway,and im not on pills or have to have op's for it,and i lead a normal life like everyone else,do you think that because of this i might not be able to get in?

Yes you can become a police officer. Your heart condition is not a issue. They do physical exams and see if your health qualifies for the job. I am a criminal justice major so here are some tips on becoming a police officer. The first thing, you can't have any felonies or a criminal background. You can apply to a police dept. of your choice. If they happen to hire you, they will pay for you to go to the police academy. If a police dept. doesn't hire you, you must pay for the police academy yourself. It will take you 6 months to train. Even after you graduate from the police academy doesn't grantee you a job. You have to apply to a police dept. and they have to hire you. It's kind of like applying for different colleges. You have a good advantage because your age. Your not to young and not too old. Believe it or not the police dept. age discriminate. They are more likely to hire someone older than someone who is younger.

You don't say which Police department you want to join. Because some of them are less stringent on health problems. Give it a try, what have you got to lose. Good Luck.

i think if you pass the fitness tests and the medical it should be ok, it may take a bit longer for the selection process but i dont think it would affect you to much, good luck mate xx

The human resources officer at your local police service should be able to tell you if this medical condition would exclude you.

are you gay ? do you have a persicuting way about you ?do you think its ok to suck ? if so you should fit right in grease up and go for it
