I have a birthday party to attend this weekend and I don't yet have a gift. The birthday girl is the daughter of some friends we don't see very often. I don't know any other kids her age, so I'm at a loss of what to give. Any suggestions would be very helpful, thank you.

Little girls that age have pretty good focus, and dexterity. I think getting her a craft of some sort would be great. A 6 year old can do things like make necklaces out of beads, or color in the lines of a big felt poster image with markers. She may enjoy painting a ceramic figurine- A craft store will have hundreds of options that would occupy her and that are educational at the same time.
Otherwise, maybe get a good book that her parents can read with her- like Pippi Longstockings.

Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Ballerina Princess, Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, Sports titles and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful & unique gift... Good Luck!

Most of the 6 year old girls in my classes are really into Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses. Also those little pocket computer pet things, I forgot what they're called.

Just get her some Clay...or Play-Doh. Other toys like dolls make kids think that its okay to look like a little hootchie mama, and video games will corrupt her mind...on the other hand clay rocks cuz it leaves their creations to be whatever roams in their little heads..plus when playmates come over the clay could be played with by both boys and girls...the only downfall is supervision is required or a clean play area! ya other toys are dated and coloring books are lame ....get clay and enrich her imanigation!

Go to Wal-Mart and look at the ages on the toys and books and stuff. I just figured that out a couple weeks ago for my nephew! Dolls and barbies and stuff like that they always like, like those ugly Bratz dolls and dress up stuff. Seriously just look at the ages on the box because I know how hard it is to find something.
