Check out www.theknot.com There you can view pictures of other peoples place cards. This website gives you so many great examples. Try to think of a theme that you want to stick with and then you might be able to come up with a way to display the cards. I have seen people use starfish with labels as their place settings. Candles with labels. Wine corks with cards sticking out of them. Flowers with cards. Some people attach their place settings to some type of favor that they will be giving out. I find it has been helping me to go to craft stores and walk around. Sometimes something just hits you and gives you an idea. Best Wishes!

I once saw a display that used about five wire trees (I don't know how else to describe them). Each was for a range of the alphabet, and the cards hung from the branches. It was a small wedding, though...it might be confusing for a large number of guests.

Champaign corks: cut a slit in the top and put the card in it.
Or wine corks: group 6 of them together (2 rows of 3) and tie a ribbon around the bunch. Put the card in between the two rows.

Why don't you just throw the idea of place cards out the window. Get two really big decorative frames and print out table assigments on those. Then when people walk in, they can just look up what table number they are at, and sit where they please at the table. Then you can just keep your favors at each of the place settings and you won't need to put names on them.

They have some cute one at http://www.nuptialknickknacks.com
If you want to make your own how about getting clear glass christmas ornaments and inserting the name into the glass ball and using that. Or tie the name on top with a ribbon that matches your colors. If you do it that way fill the glass ornaments with glitter or something.

i've got been to receptions the place fairly of utilising a card, the call & table have been written on something else, and/or ingenious table names have been used fairly of numbers. case in point, I wrote the call on little votive candles. I left a matchbook on each and each table, so the candles have been used for seating & for romantic lights. I went to a distinctive wedding ceremony the place the call & table call have been written on little ornamental pebbles. The table names have been the call of a flower & the middle piece used in basic terms that flower so it develop into undemanding to locate your table.
