Beating is not a good punishment. Spanking is for certain situations.

What is physical child abuse?
Physical child abuse is an injury resulting from physical aggression. Even if the injury was not intended, the act is considered physical abuse.
The injury from physical child abuse may be the result of:

Beating, slapping, or hitting. (using belts, wooden spoons etc.)
Pushing, shaking, kicking, or throwing.
Pinching, biting, choking, or hair-pulling.
Burning with cigarettes, scalding water, or other hot objects.
Severe physical punishment.
Using a belt is abusive and injures a child. Beating someone with a belt is NOT a good punishment and you can be charged. It is against the law to beat a child.

Look I agree with your Wife don't know how your mom & Pop raised ya but I think that abusive no matter what they did you never ever hit your child or even someone as in a Adult or Teenager or just any living thing in general I believe in Grounding, Time Out And Taking things away that so and so likes, but not spanking with a belt you need to step a few steps back and think before you act sir.

No. I believe in spanking, but not with a belt or "beating" as you would say. Depending on the childs age (some are too young and some too old to spank) a swat or two on the butt is acceptable if what they are doing constitues it, but you should never use an object to hit your child.

i say spanking with a belt is abuse and i also think you should talk to your wife and child about what they did and find a new way to punish your child, azzes are made for sitting not hitting

You are kidding right? No - Never. A belt? Take anger management classes and leave the discipline of the children to your wife.

no it is wrong. it is beating AND BEATING YOUR CHILD IS VERY, VERY WRONG. why don't you let me take a few wacks at you with a belt and then tell me what you think. a tap on the butt with your hand is punishment enough. talk to your child about what they did wrong. put them in time out or ground them but for Gods sake don't hit them with a belt or any other object..

NO IT IS NOT!!!! It is actually a law that you are not to punish with any object. A spaking is one thing but to use a belt is horrible.

Who are you going to beat?Your children? Then that's not a good idea at all. I advice you to read books on discipline.
