As long as your computer has the following specifications you will be able to install vista
PROCESSOR: 800MHZ CPU(1GHZ AND ABOVE RECOMMENDED)
MEMORY : 512MB RAM(VISTA HOME BASIC) 1GB(ALL OTHER VERSIONS)
GRAPHIC CARD: 128MB VIDEO MEMORY AND PIXEL AND SHADER 2.0 CAPABLE
E.G ATI RADEON 9550 AND ABOVE
NVIDIA GEFORCE FX5200 AND ABOVE
HARD DRIVE: 20GB SATA/PATA HARD DRIVE
OPTICAL DRIVE: DVD-ROM/RW FOR SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
These are the inportant specs,if you dont meet all of these vista will not install, however you can use a lower spec graphic card but you will sacrifice the vista aero effects and this would be a major part of vista missing
if you are not sure about any of the recomendations, just use the upgrade advisor at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx
i hope this helps
good luck

i'm hoping you have a license for that replica of XP! heavily the replica might nicely be backdoored or deliver your info to a hacker/thief basically insert the replica of xp and set up over vista. i might partition the HDD to envision that it works because of the fact if it does not you're screwed as quickly as you have deleted vista. try it in virtualbox that is unfastened application that helps you to place in an working equipment interior yet another one. you need to attempt downloading Ubuntu (no longer via ability of utorrent - try an valid web site) and utilising it fairly. that is not any longer good for video games yet is supported a minimum of (your replica of xp isn't registered so which you will no longer get provider packs or updates!) set up wubi to confirm if Ubuntu if good sufficient for you. that is going to likely be swifter on your equipment and can do each little thing different than window's video games.

Windows Vista will have the most copy protection around- you won't be able to use your friend's disc- you'll have to buy your own unfortunately.

You cannot install his disc, you will need to buy your own or else it will not work. Here is a site with Vista's system requirements:
