Right now I'm thinking it would be fun to be a little different. It's a beach theme so why not do some tropical colors? Go with an aqua, a lime, and an orange, with little shots of fuschia or red. Hawiian style party equipment is easy to come by and everybody likes it so you could carry the theme on into the reception.
Navy and hunter green go well with Burgundy if you want something more traditional.
When I'm thinking about what colors go together I always try to figure out where one occurs in nature and what other colors also appear in that picture! Burgundy makes me think of wine (go figure) so I think about red grapes with touches of pink must and dark green vines for example. Or dark red roses with gold centers and dark green leaves spotted with purple. Wild salmon also have touches of that color sometimes so burgundy, silver, and teal. Hmm Arizona's painted desert has burgundy, rust, and deep gold together. All things to consider. But it's always kind of fun to be unique at a wedding.

Burgundy isn't the first color that comes to my mind when I think "beach" (although it's just a gorgeous color!)
When I think beach, I think bright, tropical colors: lime green, yellow, pink, turquoise, lavender.
I see bridesmaids in a celadon or aqua gown carrying very bouquets of bird-of-paradise (do a google image search if you're not sure what I'm talking about - gorgeous orange flowers!), a bridal bouquet of lilies and orchids...I could get carried away with this one...too pretty!

Burgundy might be a bit harsh for the beach, unless it's a fall beach wedding. When I think of the beach I think of browns, greens, tans, yellows, oranges - spring colors (but not Easter pastels). Go here www.tuxedojunction.com if you look in their brochure there is a "destination wedding suit" and it has a very nice picture of a beach wedding with a guy in a tan suit accented with chocolate colors. Also, the colors depend on the time of day - if it's early morning or afternoon, you want to go with brighter colors, if it's evening or nightfall - think perhaps a hunter green vs. burgundy. Whatever you choose good luck and congratulations.

A light green color, like a spring green, would go nicely with a burgundy. Also a cream would look nice with burgundy. However, when I think of beach weddings I think of ocean and sand colors. Think sea glass colors. Natural. Burgundy colors usually show up with fall weddings. But ultimately it is up to you and your fiance. Best wishes.

I think bright colors look best for a beach wedding, especially for the flowers. You know...more tropical. With bright tiger lilies. Any natural color will go with burgundy (cream would be nice). Navy also goes nicely with it (that's what we used in our wedding), but it was a winter wedding, I don't think it'd look too good on a beach.

I'm using Burgundy for my wedding also. We've decide to put silver with it, to make the burgundy (POP). Also, I wanted all of those colors too. Good Luck.

I don't think blue because of the ocean and such. I like burgundy. Maybe you could put it with a sage or white. Nothing to bold or dark. I recommend sticking to a lighter color if you use burgundy

You could try a light green and maybe a slightly darker or bolder color to ground it. You could even go with white or an ivory.
You don't want to use colors too dark because the locale of your wedding needs to somewhat correspond with the colors and the season, but using colors that are too light and pastel might make it too cheesy.
You don't want everyone to look like they're straight out of an episode of Miami Vice.
