I've had my moments when I questioned, but through much education and prayer I received such a clear answer that I can no longer deny its truth. That does not mean I don't respect those who aren't. My brothers are not in the church, and one is rather against it, but we respect each other as individuals. Also, I am married to an agnostic who thinks similar to you regarding Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. Thankfully we respect each other and she is supportive of me and my choices. I will admit that 3 hours on Sunday is very long, and can be boring as hell, but the great feelings and experiences make up for it. You are correct there are plenty of Mormon hypocrites, but there are hypocrites everywhere. It's unfortunate people expect Mormons or any other religious person to follow their beliefs 100% of the time, because we're all so imperfect, which was the whole purpose of Christ. We shouldn't hold others up to any standard, but should hold ourselves up to our own. We shouldn't judge others, but should respect everyone. Good luck.

Well it sounds like you have a brain and some thought ability's, I was never LDS but I married a lady who was LDS, in the LDS church. I was raised a house of God was a place to believe, so is doesn't matter to me what house I'm in. but talking to the Missionary's and seeing first hand the inconsistencies and the way they make you believe with their testimonial it was like the were trying to convince me and in their writings were the same way. "If you don't believe then your heart isn't pure" it's more guilt and pressure than believing in something. And you’re right Joseph Smith is in the same rank as Tammy & Jim Baker, Jim Jones, and the countless others that have started or used the word of God as their soap box. The LDS church is a well run business, Brigham Young was a very smart man and organized the church into a well ran business; just as the Catholics a large family starts a large consumer base. And what better way than to have more than one wife. The church owns many business and millions of acres of land all over the US. I can't remember all the business they owned I remember being told of 28 radio stations, and 5 TV stations, but of the 28 radio stations only 2 were religious. Any way this is getting to long, anyone who has been to church meetings and read the script with an open mind can see that it more business than a religion and the Book of Mormon is unbelievable at best.

The LDS church conflicts with the Bible on so many points it can't be true. I left because it was devoid of hope. I came to a true knowlege and faith in Jesus and realized that the LDS "Jesus" is not the Jesus of the Bible. LDS teach that Jesus is satans brother- He is not! LDS teach that almost everyone will go to heaven- only those who trust in CHrist as their Savior will go to heaven. LDS teach that to have eternal life you have to be married in the temple, have endowments, ect... There were no temple marriages in the Bible- women weren't even allowed in the temple! LDS believe that there is modern day prophecy- the book of Hebrews says that in times PAST God spoke through prophets- but not now. There is no marriage in heaven according to the Bible (Jesus said this in Matthew) but Mormons teach eternal marriage. There is no baptism for the dead in the Bible, LDS take a verse that says "why then do They baptize for the dead" to mean that the early church baptized for the dead. However, the they in this verse refers to the pagans Paul was warning the early church about. So there is no need to baptize dead Aunt Sally by proxy.

I suggest you go to Concerned Christians to get more information on leaving Mormonism.

It started with the little temple talk they give teens---did you ever have that one? As soon as I left my parents home, I left the church. It didn't make sense when I looked at it from the outside. That was18 years ago. I'm now an atheist.

Many leave not by their own choosing. They are excommunicated. Even the direct decedent of a big leader, Benson, a cartoonist who blasphemed, the church in a satire was thrown out. In Colorado City Arizona, the "Lost Boys" are driven out by elders, because they don't want teenage boys in town competing for the 12+ year old girls commodity.
