Okay you can use a doll that also uses a pacifier and act it out by making the doll cry and putting the pacifier in her mouth and then take the dolls hand and take it out and take it to the trash can and have the doll pick up a blanket or another doll and just make sure that when she takes the pacifier away and throws it away and grabs something else, that she has it all the time, she will eventually loose the grib of what ever else she is using but I would give her a blanket and a sippy cup and tell her good girl and that you are proud of her and that she is a big girl and you love her and she should be just fine, she will cry for a few days but don't give in by giving it back to her keep talking her into taking the blanket and cup and she will be just fine,. But taking it away and throwing it away is also something that you are going to have to do if she decides she doesn't want to throw it away but do it when she doesn't have it.

I think the best way would be to slowly minimize the size of the binky. Cut off a little bit each time. By the time you are done there wont be enough for her to suck on. I hope this works for you!
How should I get rid of the Binky?
1. Everyday, cut a tiny piece off the end of the pacifier WITHOUT THE CHILD SEEING YOU! Eventually there won't be enough left to hold in the mouth.
2. Prepare you child for the throwing away of the Binky. Set a date (their birthday, Easter, Christmas), and count down the weeks or days until the Binky is gone. Mark the calendar, and let your child mark of the days with stickers or a marker!
3. Throw away all but one pacifier. Every other day of so, without the child knowing you are doing it, hide the pacifier somewhere in the house. When the child asks for it, go on a "hunt" together to look for it. Allow him/her to find it several times. But, one day, hide it where it can't be found - like the garbage! Tell the child, "Oh well, I guess it's lost for good this time." Allow him/her to keep looking for it if they want to, but don't let it be found.
4. Help your child decide to be a Good Samaritan. Tell him/her that it's time to donate some things to needy babies. Allow him/her to help find some toys and clothes that they want to donate, and explain that what a lot of little babies need is pacifiers. Try to coax them into putting at least one or more of their pacifiers in the bag. (Of course, remember to throw them out before actually donating the bag!) Be sure your child is with you when you drop the bag off at a donation site, so they can actually see the "donations" going away.
5. Remember not to use the pacifier as a reward (i.e., "If you brush your teeth, you can have your Binky.").
6. Don't use the pacifier as a way to quiet your child.

Buy one of those baby dolls with the pacifier in it.... Wal-Mart sells "Little Mommie" (they are cheaper than the Baby Alive). You know what I did? My little girl had just turned 2 and used the binky/pacifier for bedtime or if she got highly stressed over something like getting hurt. For two weeks we talked about how babies use pacifiers and bigger girls dont. We told her there was a binky fairy that would come soon to take away her binkies so that she could give them to all the new babies. We went and bought her a new stuffed animal (shes currently crazy over Minnie Mouse). We took her to Chuck E Cheese, put her binkies in a little gift bag and then while she was distracted we switched the binkies for the Minnie Mouse with a glittery note saying thank you.
The first night she was so excited she didnt care. The next two -3 nights were tough, but we just reminded her we didnt have the binkies anymore that the Binky fairy got them.
Now when she sees a baby with a pacifier she says...look the binky fair was here. =)

The best thing to do if you want your daughter to not have the pacifier anymore is that you need to slowly get her used to not having it. Take it away from her for short periods of time though-out the day. Slowly work it so that it goes longer and longer before you give her the pacifier. After awhile she will get used to not having it and won't feel as though she needs it. Just understand that it might be a bit of a fight at first but it will work if you are patient. Hope it works out

I don't have the idea with a doll, but there are books for kids that I used to make toddlers get rid of their pacifier. The book I love is in french in dutch, but I couldn't find an english translation. Some other books which are great to are listed in the link below. Good luck!

Have her put all of her pacifiers in a special bag or bucket and tell her that she is a big girl now so the binky (or what ever word you use for pacifier) fairy is going to take all of her old pacifiers and give them to babies and when she wakes up she will have a special big girl surprise. While she is sleeping throw out all the pacifiers and put something special in the basket for her to get the next morning.

If your daughter is beetween 18-24 I would say you can get a doll from toys R us if older than I would go with a treasure box. Or a calamder and have her put stars on them each time she puts the binky in the bowl. Than there is you buy 20 different color binkys and explain everytime she lays one down it goes into the trash and after all 20 are gone than no more...Don't get to stressed over it in time it will be all of the past.

I got my son (19 months) a little baby from Target just the other day preparing for this sort of thing. It's only $4! It comes with blue clothes or pink clothes for boys or girls. But the best part is is has a binkie tethered to it's overalls. Now, when it's time for my son to give up his binkie, we'll both sit down and clip the tether on baby's binkie and throw it away. Good luck.

I like your idea of a doll, however the best thing that has worked with myself and my friends is when you take the scissors and cut the tip of the pacifier in half... you cut part of it off and they dont get the same effect and they think they are "big" and have totally ruined the pacifier... becaue "i'm a big girl" or "i'm a big boy" like- super powers! :) It has worked so well with my friends when I have told them about it! Good luck!

A doll that had a pacifier? That should make the transition go pretty smoothly.
